The Localisation Industry Standards Association
LISA is an international non-profit organization registered in Geneva, Switzerland, which cooperates with industry partners to provide professional support for the development of standards in the software localization industry. The objective of LISA is to meet the quality needs of language technology users with regard to multilingual software and technical documentation.
LISA supports the LISA Education Initiative Taskforce (LEIT), an initiative designed to develop a promotional program for the academic communities in Europe, North America and Asia. The objective of this effort is to stimulate more formal education in skills beneficial to the localization industry, and hence to help remedy the massive labor shortage currently restricting industry growth.

The International Institute for Terminology Research
IITF is a forum for theoretical and applied terminology research, teaching and training; it provides those actively engaged in research, especially within the academic world, with a professional platform for both the exchange of experience and information, and joint research and training projects.
LETRAC (Language Engineering for Translator Curricula) is a research project funded by the European Commission within the Telematics Application Programme belonging to the sector of Language Engineering (LE). It aims at improving the current situation in translator training by establishing a common basis for the elaboration and inclusion of LE and IT components in translator curricula.
