The Institute for Applied Linguistics is actively recruiting institutional, academic and corporate partners. The partner relationship is intended to be a mutually beneficial exchange of ideas and services between the Institute for Applied Linguistics and leading associations and companies in the language industry, as well as selected translation programs with similar interests. This evolving relationship could involve recruiting visits, corporate internships, translation fellowships, advisory board membership, speaker exchange, joint development of workshops and conferences, consultation on curriculum development and a host of other areas, as well as direct participation in the LEIT initiative (LISA Education Initiative Taskforce). Exchange Programs
	The University of Geneva Ecole de Traduction et d'Interprétation maintains an exchange program with Kent State University and the Institute for Applied Linguistics.
	The Fachbereich Angewandte Sprach- und Kulturewissenschaft of the Johannes Gutenberg Universität Mainz at Germersheim maintains a long standing exchange program with Kent State University and the Institute for Applied Linguistics.
	The University of Hildesheim has a long-standing exchange relationship with the Institute for Applied Linguistics focusing on technical and scientific translation.
	The Insitute's oldest continuous exchange relationship is with the University of Leipzig . Since 1985 the Institute and its faculty have maintained faculty and student exchanges and cooperated on a number of research and publication projects.
Industry and Professional Associations
	The Localization Industry Standards Association (LISA) has ca. 130 members in the localization and internationalization industry, including leading  software publishers, hardware manufacturers, localization service vendors, etc.
	The LISA Education Initiative Taskforce was established in March of 1998 for the purpose of promoting the development of training opportunities in internationalization and localization.
	The American Translators Association promotes translator training and the generation of recommendations for translation programs.
	The Northeast Ohio Translators Association maintains close ties with the Institute for Applied Linguistics, with mutual exchange of speakers and facilities.
Software Providers
	The Trados Corporation has supported the Institute for Applied Linguistics by providing TRADOS Workbench software for use in the training of future localization specialists and by participating in LEIT activities.
	Language Partners International has supported the Institute for Applied Linguistics by providing Corel Catalyst software for use in the training future localization specialists and by participating in LEIT activities.
	Corel Catalyst has supported the Institute for Applied Linguistics by providing software for use in the localization training program.
Speaker Exchange
	Berlitz GlobalNet has supported the Institute for Applied Linguistics with visiting speakers and participation in LEIT activities.
	The Logos Corporation has supported the Institute for Applied Linguistics with visiting speakers and participation in LEIT activities.
Training Programs
	The Translation Research Group at Brigham Young University maintains the LEIT website and supports the activities of LEIT. With the Kent State University Institute for Applied Linguistics, the TRG has developed a framework for dealing with terminological data known as the CLS Framework.
	The Monterey Institute of International Studies trains translators and provides localization and project management as a component in its program. MIIS participates in LEIT related workshops and activities.
	The University of Geneva ISSCO Institute specializes in basic and applied research in computational linguistics (CL), and artificial intelligence (AI). ISSCO teaches computer applications for translators and is an active participant in the LEIT project.
	The Translation Research and Instruction Program (TRIP) is the pedagogical division of the Center for Research in Translation (CRIT). TRIP/CRIT maintains a long-standing collaborative relationship with the Kent State University IAL.
	Austraat Seminars and Consulting is a commercial training service specializing in localization applications and an active supporter of the LISA project.
Publishers
	Language International is a bimonthly magazine providing state-of-the-art information for the language industries. LI is a long-time collaborator with the KSU/IAL.
	John Benjamins Publishing Company publishes the ATA Series and specializes in books treating translation and terminology studies, as well as localization.
