PROJECT #3 (Translation Alignment Tool)
DUE: October 3, 2001
DESCRIPTION:Your primary task is to align a source text in one language with a source text in another. You will have to do this using a translation memory alignment tool. I will provide the distribution for this tool in class.
STEPS
1. Download from the internet the Trans Suite 2000 Align tool. It is free, but remember to fill out the form so you can get a license key.  http://www.cypresoft.com/download/freealgn.htm
2. Follow the instructions to install. We will do this once in class, but the software can be put on your zip disk and taken home to install as well.
3. Sub Assignment #1: Start the software and use the help file to learn what to do. We will also go through the steps in class. If the software says it cannot find the help file, browse for Ts2align.hlp in the Program Files/TS2000 folder .
4. Sub Assignment #2: Find one of your old translations. Do not choose one that is too long. You will need both the source text and the target text on disk, preferably in Microsoft Word format.
5. Sub Assignment #3: Follow the instructions and my in-class tutorial to align the files. Once you have received the license key, attempt to export the files to TMX format.
DELIVERABLES: Once you have aligned the files and exported them email me the TMX formatted file.
