Rickert, Heinrich. 1988. "The Theory of Definitions." In: Sager, Juan, ed. Essays on Definition. 2000. Amsterdam and Philadelphia: John Benjamins Publishing Company, pp.191-254.

What are the advantages of rigorous intensional definitions, especially for special language discourse? Why do some terminologists consider synonyms or simple explanations to be problematic solutions for terminological purposes? Can you envision the use of rigorous definitions for use in automatic processing of information? But do rigorous definitions make sense with respect to concept theory? What is the relationship between rigorous definitions and prototypes, or anomalous deviations from prototypes?
